The Tongass School of Arts & Sciences is offering a new educational opportunity for home school families to become members of the TSAS community. With the Tongass School Home School (TSHS) program, our goal is to provide curriculum and activities that inspire, engage, and empower parents and their home schooled children.

We recognize that a child's parents are the first and best teachers they will have. TSHS will provide quality materials and professional assistance for parents as they introduce exciting concepts and experiences and guide their children through our standards-based program.

Our literacy curriculum, StoryTown by Harcourt, and our mathematics curriculum, Everyday Math by McGraw-Hill, are top of the line and well supported by research. In addition, the Tongass School Home School program is offering a variety of optional materials for home school use, including a laptop computer. Home schooled children can choose to participate in stimulating grade level activities and extracurricular opportunities, such as Music, Art, GeoBee, Being There Experiences, and Battle of the Books.

Terri Robbins, the Tongass School Home School Program Coordinator, will be available to answer questions about our program. She can be reached at trobbins@gci.net or 225-5711. Terri's goal is to assist in developing, delivering, and improving the program parents design for their children.
